Huronia Centennial ES to celebrate 50th anniversary with time capsule opening and open house

This year marks Huronia Centennial Elementary School’s fiftieth anniversary, and students, staff and the community are recognizing the milestone with two upcoming events.

On May 1, students and staff will get a taste of what life in Elmvale was like in 1968, as they open a recently discovered time capsule. The opening will take place at a student assembly at 9:30 a.m. Members of the media are invited to attend.

On May 9, the public are welcome to view the contents of the capsule at an open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Classroom tours and other memorabilia displays will be available. Following the official ceremony, light refreshments will be served.

The school is located at 28 Simcoe Street in Elmvale.

This initiative links directly to the SCDSB’s Strategic Priorities under the pillar of community.
