Members of the public invited to Sharing The Indigenous Journey event on April 8

On April 8, Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) staff and members of the community are invited to share in The Indigenous Journey, a free, online curriculum resource developed by Elephant Thoughts in partnership with Indigenous youth, elders and educators and piloted in SCDSB schools.

Attendees at Sharing The Indigenous Journey will experience a presentation about and guided tour of this resource, which is available at www.theindigenousjourney.com

Sharing the Indigenous Journey takes place April 8 at the SCDSB Education Centre in Midhurst from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Dinner will be provided. Attendees are asked to RSVP via email to [email protected] or [email protected].

The Indigenous Journey is a series of multimedia educational modules created by a team of Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth, elders and educators that provides an overview of Indigenous history, culture, current events and perspectives. The resource provides the opportunity to advance discussions on topics such as Truth and Reconciliation, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and land claims.

This initiative links directly to the SCDSB’s Strategic Priorities under the pillars of excellence in teaching and learning, equity, diversity and inclusion and community.
