Nighthawk’s Closet opens for business at Orillia Secondary School

On Nov. 15, students at Orillia Secondary School (OSS) will have the chance to shake up their personal style at the Nighthawk’s Closet, an upcycled clothing boutique operating out of the school store. The boutique is a joint venture of the entrepreneurship and fashion classes.

The store will be stocked with clothing items collected throughout school and community donations, then styled into coordinating outfits and pieces by students. OSS students are invited to visit the store during their lunch. Prices range from $1-5. Proceeds from sales of the upcycled clothing with support Green Haven Shelter for Women in Orillia.

An education campaign on the benefits of keeping textiles out of landfills will also be shared by the Enviro-Action Club.

This initiative links directly to the Simcoe County District School Board’s Strategic Priorities in the areas of Well-Being and Community.
