SCDSB schools show commitment to health and well-being with 90 Ophea Healthy Schools certifications

Students and staff at 90 Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) schools have earned Healthy Schools certifications from Ophea for the 2021-22 school year, more than half of the certifications earned throughout the province.

SCDSB schools earned 52 gold, 24 silver, 12 bronze and two certifications.

The Healthy Schools certification program recognizes and celebrates school communities for promoting and enhancing the health and well-being of students, school staff and the broader community. Participating schools complete the Six-Step Healthy Schools Process, which aligns with the Ministry of Education’s Foundations for a Healthy School resource. Through a point-based system, schools plan their Healthy Schools process over the course of the school year, outlining the steps needed to achieve certification and apply to be certified as a gold, silver or bronze.
