SCDSB Update 11 – April 28, 2021
This update provides highlights of the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) Board Meeting held Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Agendas and/or reports considered at this meeting are available at www.scdsb.on.ca.
Report from the Student Trustees
Student Trustee Monahan provided highlights from the Student Senate meeting, which took place virtually. Student Trustee Monahan noted that students participated in discussions regarding identity and intersectionality led by Irfan Toor, Principal of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Student Trustee Monahan shared that the SCDSB Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Department will be hosting a virtual conference for secondary students focused on identity and intersectionality on Wednesdays throughout the month of May.
Trustee Tribute
Chair Lloyd recognized Laura Lee Matthie, Arts Chair/Music Teacher at Orillia Secondary School, for her outstanding commitment, dedication and passion for music education at the SCDSB. Chair Lloyd acknowledged Laura Lee Matthie’s many accomplishments and shared stories from students noting the impact she has had on their lives over the years.

Chairperson Lloyd accepted the delegation for information.
D-4-a Program
The Board approved the following motion:
- That the Board approve the submission of the school year calendar for 2021-2022 to the Ministry of Education for approval, as set out in APPENDIX A of Report No. PRO-D-1, School Year Calendar 2021-2022, dated April 21, 2021.

The Board approved the following motion:
- That the Board approve revisions to the Simcoe County District School Board Parent Involvement Committee By-laws, as set out in APPENDIX A of Report No. D-4-b, Report of the Parent Involvement Committee meeting, dated April 28, 2021.
D-4-c AAC
The Board approved the following motion:
- That the Board approve revisions to the Simcoe County District School Board Accessibility Advisory Committee Terms of Reference, as set out in APPENDIX A of Report No. D-4-c, Report of the Accessibility Advisory Committee Meeting, dated April 28, 2021.
D-5-a Appointment to the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA) – Director and Alternate Director for the 2021-2022 School Year
The Board approved the following motion:
- That the Board appoint Trustee Jodi Lloyd as the representative to serve as a director on the OPSBA Board of Directors, and appoint Trustee Tanya Snell to serve as an alternate director as set out in Report No. D-5-a, Appointment to the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA) – Director and Alternate Director for the 2021-2022 School Year, dated April 28, 2021.
D-5-b Capital Priorities Update
The Board approved the following motion:
- That the Board approve the Capital Priority list, as set out in Report No. D-5-b, Capital Priorities Update, dated April 28, 2021.
