Priorities Funding
The Simcoe
County District School Board is appreciative of the funding for capital
priorities that the board receives from the Ministry of Education. Recently,
the board was informed that it was successful in obtaining funding for two of
its top ten capital priorities.
The
announcement includes a new 593 pupil place elementary school in south
Bradford, with an estimated construction value of $13.5M. This is welcome news
for an area in the board that is facing significant growth and enrolment
pressures.
The
announcement also includes a new 190 pupil place elementary school in Shanty
Bay, with an estimated construction value of $5.9M. This is funding for the
replacement of the current school, which has been deemed prohibitive to repair.
We anticipate
that these new schools will open in September 2023.
