SCDSB schools are ready to welcome students to in-school and remote learning this September
Posted on 09/03/2020

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) looks forward to welcoming our students and staff to a new school year, as our students and those across Ontario return to school this September. School boards and staff have been working throughout the summer, preparing to support students and families through in-school and voluntary remote learning programs.

“Our schools are ready to welcome students, both in person and through remote learning”, says Steve Blake, SCDSB Director of Education. “The school year and our learning environments may look different this year, but SCDSB staff remain committed to providing all students with a high-quality and safe educational experience.”

Students participating in the in-school program will follow a staggered start model from Sept. 8 to 10. Families of these students will receive specific details about their child(ren)’s schedule, educators and school protocols for the first day of school, such as entry and exit, directly from their school via email during the week of Aug. 31 to Sept. 4.

For those enrolled in the remote learning program, classes will begin on Sept. 21. Families of students participating in remote learning will receive specific details about their child(ren)’s schedule, their assigned educators and the virtual learning platforms/access they will be using directly from their school via email between Sept. 8 and 18.

In partnership with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU), the SCDSB will continue to implement measures to protect the health and well-being of our students and staff. More information about the return to school, including a fact sheet with details on health and safety, mental health and well-being, transportation and more, is available on the SCDSB website at www.scdsb.on.ca/covid-19
