Posted on 05/06/2019

On May 8, the Simcoe County District School Board’s (SCDSB) Indigenous Education Team, along with the equity team at Nantyr Shores Secondary School, will host a Pow Wow. The event will feature the White Pine Dancers, Ojibway Storyteller and Master of Ceremonies, Aaron Bell, Elder John Rice, drummers and student dancers. There will also be an interactive dance session for student participants.

This unique in-school opportunity will be offered twice, at 8:30 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. Over 300 students and staff are expected to attend and participate in each celebration.

This initiative links directly to the SCDSB’s Strategic Priorities under the pillars of equity, diversity and inclusion, community and well-being.
