All students to participate in remote learning

All students to participate in remote learning due to school closures
Posted on 12/22/2020

On December 21, the Ministry of Education announced that all school buildings in Ontario will remain closed following the Winter Break in order to suppress the spread of COVID-19.

Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) elementary students, including Grade 7 and 8 students at Elmvale District High School and Stayner Collegiate Institute, will participate in remote learning from January 4 to 8, 2021. Elementary students are expected to return to in-person learning on January 11. SCDSB secondary students will participate in remote learning from January 4 to 22, 2021 and are expected to return to in-person learning on January 25. Please note that transportation services will not be available from January 4 to 8, 2021. Transportation will resume for elementary school students during the week of January 11.

All SCDSB students currently participating in in-person learning will receive and complete assigned coursework through the virtual learning platform established by their teacher (either Google Classroom or Desire2Learn [D2L]). On January 4, your child’s teacher will contact you with information regarding next steps, including access to learning materials and technology, should your child require it.

Students currently enrolled in the Learn@Home program will continue to attend class virtually beginning January 4.

Parents/guardians of students in special education classes will be contacted by their child’s teacher on January 4 regarding programming options.
