Capital Planning
Although student enrolment in Simcoe County is relatively static, demographic shifts have an impact on program offerings across the county. To provide equitable opportunities for all students, the Board needs to address student accommodation requirements throughout the county while considering areas of enrolment growth, areas of enrolment decline, and a large number of aging school facilities. Planning staff provide information to the Board regarding pressure points within the Simcoe County District School Board to help guide long-term decisions.
EDC By-law: Education development charges fund the acquisition of sites for new schools. The charge for new residential and non residential construction is collected by municipalities when a building permit is issued.
