About Us

One of Ontario's largest public education systems, the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) continues to flourish. Serving more than 50,000 students in 89 elementary schools, 16 secondary schools and 7 adult learning centres, the number one priority for our dedicated and skilled team of teaching, administrative and support staff is to help all students learn, achieve success, reach their full potential and continue along a path of lifelong learning.

The mission of the Simcoe County District School Board, serving diverse growing urban and rural communities in the Huronia and Georgian Bay region, is to ensure students reach their full potential to become responsible and contributing members of an ever-changing global society through quality programs which develop the skills of lifelong learning in a safe, caring environment enhanced by community support.

SCDSB Draft Strategic Plan: The Simcoe Path: Your Future...Our Priority

Director of Education Kathi Wallace presented the DRAFT SCDSB Strategic Plan to the Board of Trustees on February 24, 2010. She reviewed the steps in developing this plan.  Initial stages included facilitating an environmental scan to identify opportunities and challenges, and priority setting sessions with trustees.  The plan will remain in draft form for approximately one year and will be widely shared to gain feedback. The plan will be a dynamic document providing an over-arching framework for planned continuous improvement over the next three years.

FEEDBACK TO DRAFT STRATEGIC PLAN: Your feedback to the DRAFT SCDSB Strategic Plan may be submitted to webadmin@scdsb.on.ca with the SUBJECT line stating: "Feedback to Strategic Plan".  Following consultation in the draft stage, staff will determine the specific actions that follow the directions of the plan.

SCDSB Logo

LogoThe stylized "S" in the Board's logo represents this educational path and emphasizes directions to the future. While formal education takes place within the solid foundation of the school - represented by the square - learning is also an ongoing process to be pursued beyond the walls of our classrooms.

Adopted in April 1988, the SCDSB corporate symbol was developed by designer Chuck Temple from a concept submitted by Diana MacNab, a former student from Orillia Park Street Collegiate. The logo is now a familiar graphic component of a dynamic school system where dedicated and skilled staff members and school communities work together to create positive centres of learning for students throughout Simcoe County.
