Invitation For Input About Proposed 2015-2016 School Year Calendars
  

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is inviting all public school communities to submit input regarding the placement of holiday breaks and PA days for 2015-2016.

The Ministry of Education proposed Christmas Break begins Monday, December 21, 2015 and ends Friday, January 1, 2016.

Regular School Year Calendar Input 2015 - 2016   

Modified School Year Calendar Input 2015 - 2016 (Ernest Cumberland ONLY)   

Feedback will be required no later than Friday, January 9, 2015 to ensure that we are able to meet the timelines established for the school year calendar. Please note that all calendars are subject to Ministry of Education approval.

2014-2015 School Year Calendars     

Below you will find the approved 2014-2015 School Year Calendars, which outline important dates through the school year including holidays, March break, secondary evaluation days (exams) and professional activity (PA) days. 

SCDSB students will start school on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. The last day for elementary students will be Thursday, June 25, 2015 and for secondary students it will be Wednesday, June 24, 2015.

5-Day Cycle of Instruction


The following calendars are identical to the regular Elementary SCDSB and Modified (Ernest Cumberland) calendars posted above, with the addition of the 5-day instructional cycle designations. The 5-day instructional cycle means that instead of scheduling class programs on a Monday to Friday timetable, the programs are scheduled on a Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5 sequence.

Please note, the Ministry of Education provides the following guidelines to boards as they develop their calendars:
 
  • Students must have a minimum of 188 Instructional Days.
  • A maximum of six (6) Professional Activity (PA) Days are permitted.
  • Secondary schools are permitted a maximum of ten (10) Evaluation Days (not necessarily placed at the end of the semester).
  • The school year shall commence on or after the first day of September and end on or before the 30th day of June.
