Proposed 2014-2015 School Year Calendars
Below you will find the proposed 2014-2015 School Year Calendars, pending Ministry approval. These calendars were approved by the Board on February 26 (Modified Calendar) and March 26 (Regular Calendar), for submission to the Ministry of Education. They are awaiting final approval by the Ministry of Education.

2013-2014 School Year Calendars
Below you will find the approved 2013-2014 SCDSB School Year Calendars, which outline important dates through the school year including holidays, March break, secondary evaluation days (exams) and professional activity (PA) days.
SCDSB students will start school on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. The last day for elementary students will be Friday, June 27, 2014 and for secondary students it will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
Further information regarding the nature of the P.A. days will be communicated at a later date.

Ernest Cumberland ES Modified School Year Calendar
5-Day Cycle of Instruction
The following calendars are identical to the regular Elementary SCDSB and Modified (Ernest Cumberland) calendars posted above, with the addition of the 5-day instructional cycle designations. The 5-day instructional cycle means that instead of scheduling class programs on a Monday to Friday timetable, the programs are scheduled on a Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5 sequence.

Please note, the Ministry of Education provides the following guidelines to boards as they develop their calendars:
- Students must have a minimum of 188 Instructional Days.
- A maximum of six (6) Professional Activity (PA) Days are permitted.
- Secondary schools are permitted a maximum of ten (10) Evaluation Days (not necessarily placed at the end of the semester).
- The school year shall commence on or after the first day of September and end on or before the 30th day of June.
