Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC)

The Accessibility Advisory Committee was formed in 2003 to advise on the preparation, implementation and effectiveness of the Board annual accessibility plan, review and advise on accessibility issues relating to Board facilities and services, and advise on other accessibility related issues within Simcoe County District School Board buildings.

SCDSB Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

To date there have been ten annual plans including the 2012-2013 plan prepared by the Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) of the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB). The previous plans included the measures that the SCDSB has taken in the past, and the future measures that the SCDSB proposes to take to identify, remove and prevent barriers for people with disabilities.

During the 2012-2013 school year, as per the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation, the first multi-year Accessibility Plan was created. The plan describes the measures that the Board will take over the five year period from 2012-2017 to identify, remove and prevent barriers to people with disabilities who work, learn and participate in the SCDSB community and environment including students, staff, parents and guardians, volunteers and visitors to the Board and its schools/facilities. The plan will be guided by the Board’s Integrated Accessibility Standards Policy Number 3116.

In May 2014, the Multi-Year Accessibility Plan was reviewed by the AAC, with amendments made to include updated information. Read our Multi-Year Accessibility Plan
