Eastview SS to offer wellness and mindfulness workshops for parentsApril 9, 2018

Parents and guardians of teens across Simcoe County are invited to Eastview Secondary School in April and May to participate in free workshops focused on wellness and mindfulness. The workshops have been developed to help parents support their teens. Participants can attend any or all of the sessions.
April 12 – Engaging Students and Understanding Their World
Author, speaker and music maker Blake Fly will share how parents can develop systems and tools to meaningfully and authentically interact with teens. This session is at 7 p.m. in the Eastview Café, and is being offered as part of the Eastview Wellness Week.
April 13 – An Introduction to Mindfulness
Amber McAuley, from Mindfulness Without Borders, will introduce parents to mindfulness and describe its purpose and benefits. She will share information on the Mindfulness Without Borders program starting at Eastview, and how parents can support their children with starting to practice mindfulness. The one-hour sessions are being offered at 8:15 and 9:30 a.m. as part of the Eastview Wellness Conference. Sessions take place in the Eastview library.
May 10 – Mindfulness for Real Life
Sue Hutton, social worker and Mindful Parent teacher, will lead this session focused on providing participants with easy-to-use mindfulness tools for everyday life. This engaging session will include opportunities to practice using these tools. It is being offered at 7 p.m. in the Eastview library as part of Children’s Mental Health Week.
Eastview Secondary School is located at 421 Grove Street East in Barrie.
