Social and recreational programs will be offered this winter for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The programs will be offered at elementary schools in Angus, Barrie and Bradford.

Music Social Skills Program
A ten week, multi-component music platform designed to improve emotional understanding and social skills of high-functioning 5 to 12 year old children with ASD. This program will be offered at Hyde Park ES in Barrie and W.H. Day ES in Bradford.

Play Ball Kidz Recreation Program
A ten week, multi-component recreation program designed to improve the gross motor skills and social skills of high-functioning 5 to 12 year old children with ASD. This program will be offered at Angus Morrison ES in Angus and Holly Meadows ES in Barrie.

Parents and schools are an important part of the programs and will receive resources and support to help the children develop and practice new skills at home and at school.

Limited spaces are available. Complete the initial application form linked in the program flyer. This does not guarantee enrolment into the program. You will be contacted in late December for an initial telephone interview to assess if the program is appropriate for your child.

Please contact your school or Crystal McEwan, ASD After School Social Skills Program Coordinator, at cmcewan@scdsb.on.ca for more information.
